MDPD Corporal Amanda Monroe sat in the briefing room at the main precinct for the Miami-Dade Police Department, she listened close to her shift commander on the latest news from the previous shift regarding gang activity and other crimes in the city, there was also a report out that domestic violence was on the rise, that got Amanda's attention as she was one of the departments domestic violence investigators, after the briefing, Amanda got up and walked out to her patrol car to start her shift

At the same time Rachel pulled up in front of a friend's place, wanting to pick her up for a little outing on their day off. When she walked up to the small house she heard her friend screaming and then sounds of someone hitting someone. Rachel froze in her tracks and called 911, she knew what was happening inside.

Amanda had just pulled out of the lot when the call came in, "6-Lima-42, 10-4, I'm on my way." she said into her radio, she then sped over to the location, lights and sirens on

Meanwhile Rachel was knocking on the door, but no one would answer, instead she would hear her friend crying, while her boyfriend yelled at her.

Amanda soon got to the location with another officer, the two ran up to the house, Amanda let the male officer that responded knock the door down and tackle the suspect while she tented to Rachel's friend

Rachel stayed outside, letting the police do their job. But she rushed up to her friend, as soon as she was taken out of the house, to be checked over by the EMTs. It was obvious that not only her friend Michelle, but also Rachel herself was a little rattled by this.

Amanda saw it, it was a look she had seen too many times before, "I'll need to take your statements later." she gently said to Melissa and Rachel

Michelle and Rachel both nodded, though Rachel wouldn't have much to say, since she acted on instinct.

Amanda walked over to the other officer and checked in with him about the suspect, then walked back over to Rachel and Michelle

Michelle was checked over by the EMT when Amanda walked back up to them, Rachel staying with her friend.

Amanda walked up and stood in front of them, "When ever your ready" she said

Rachel nodded and glanced at Michelle, who nodded as well.
"Just wanna get over with it." Michelle said quietly.

Amanda nodded, "I know" she said in a comforting tone, "Walk me through it"

Michelle nodded.
"Basically.... it started with a disagreement." Michelle said.

Amanda nodded, "What was it about?" she asked

"Uh well... he wanted to go for lunch, but I was already meeting Rach... he didn't like it." Michelle told her.

Amanda nodded, "And that is when he hit you?"

Michelle nodded slowly. "Maybe I shouldn't have been that harsh to him." Michelle said, tears coming to her eyes.

Amanda looked at her, "It is not your fault." she said gently

Michelle looked up at Amanda.
"He's never been like that before." she said, then glanced at Rachel, who gave her a small nod.

Amanda watched, then nodded, "What set him off?" she asked

"Maybe the fact that I stood my ground? I don't know." Michelle replied, obviously still rattled and trying to think of something.

Amanda nodded, seeing that Michelle was still rattled, "What time did he come over today?"

"We live here together. He came home from the nightshift." Michelle replied.

Amanda nodded, "Whats his job?" she asked

"He's leader of the security group at the "Four Seasons" Hotel." Michelle replied and looked up at Amanda and Rachel.

Amanda saw the bruising on Michelle's face, then sighed a bit to herself, "I'll go and talk to them as soon as I am done here." she said

Michelle nodded slowly then sighed.

Amanda finished writing everything down, then handed Michelle a card for a women's shelter

"Thank you." Michelle said to Amanda.
